Peeping Tomcat
continued from here
[ The slight scrape of his teeth made her breath hitch, and she didn't hesitate for a second to close that last bit of distance between their lips to kiss him. ]

Good. On both counts. Knowledge doesn't help anyone if it's kept secret. If you don't know, then it behooves all parties to share it- as you're already in the know, that is. I'm hardly running around sharing to your neighbor that the shadow he shot at the other night is currently lying in your bed.

[ She propped herself up on her elbow to give him a look of concern, in spite of how completely Lucas had shown himself to be in very good health for the last while. ]
You weren't hurt, right?
[ Look, she wasn't sure how fast he healed. ]

Hush, darling. I'm sure you've seen most if not all of me by now and as you can see, I'm fine. He didn't even clip me. Can't blame the bloke. All he saw was a black blur moving. I likely scared a few years off him. No harm, no foul.

[ She laid down and settled her head back on his shoulder, her legs tangling affectionately into his. ]
I'm not overly excited about having a neighbour with a gun.

He did only fire the once. I'd be more mad if he'd fired willy nilly with no care for the neighbors. And if he'd hit your house, I might have done more than startle him a bit.
[No maybe about it, but it might not have helped her any. It was his own fault for being seen. It just showed him how much he had to be careful.]

[ Honestly, she didn't want to get used to it.
It was pretty nice to know she had a shifter prowling around apparently feeling quite protective of her. ]

I can't blame you. They are quite trigger happy. I only had to worry about farmers back home.

If I fall asleep, will you still be here when I wake up?
no subject
I can be. Would you like me to be?

[ If he stuck around just for her sake, it wasn't as appealing a notion. ]

[For all that he could read her scent and body language, he wasn't a mind reader. And when she was sprawled out on top of him, it was hard to read more than the scent of her mingled with his own and the steady thrumming of her heartbeat against his chest. He was... relaxed. Content. And genuinely in no rush to go anywhere.]

[ Said with a grin, and punctuated by giving his shoulder a kiss. ]

[A soft laugh, and he closed his eyes and lay with her, waiting for both of them to drift off.]

[ She did the same, relaxing even more against him and feeling wonderfully safe as she relinquished her hold on wakefulness. ]
